From Uralla
From the New England Highway turn right at the statue of Thunderbolt on his horse into Salisbury Street, drive past McCrossin's Mill then take third turn to right into Duke Street, then second turn to left into East Street which is also known as Gostwyck Road & Tourist Drive 19 (TD19).
The old Phoenix Foundry ( The New England Brass and Iron Lace Foundry) will be on the right just before you cross the railway level crossing.
On the 23km drive along (TD19) you will drive through GOSTWYCK, passing the ivy clad All Saints Church and then over the Munsie Bridge. The unusual circular DEARGEE Woolshed will be on your right, stay on the sealed road until it peters out at a ramp where it is unsealed for a few kms. Keep going until you reach MIHI, turn left, stay on the sealed road ....up the hill round a couple of bends and you are there!
From Armidale
Follow Marsh Street past McDonalds, KFC and traffic lights to the end where you will find The New England Regional Art Museum, there you must turn left into Kentucky Street. Then take third turn to your right, this places you on to Tourist Drive 19. Stay on Tourist Drive 19 for about 23km.
Along the way you will see Petersons Winery on the left, The Dangarsleigh (Perrots) Monument on the left at a fork which goes to Dangars Falls. Via to the right here, stay on the sealed road, cross Salisbury Waters bridge, up the hill until you see Mihi Road / Cruickshanks signpost . Turn right onto Mihi Road and follow this for 3.13 kms down the hill and over a bridge and there you will see Cruickshanks on the left.
From Sydney
Two choices ....Take the Newcastle Freeway & New England Highway to Uralla which takes you through the Hunter Winery region and Tamworth or .... alternatively take Newcastle Freeway and Bucketts Way and Thunderbolts Way route. (The Bucketts Way & Thunderbolts Way route is shorter by about an hour than taking the New England Highway).
For the second choice and shorther route, at end of the Freeway turn right to Hexham (outskirts of Newcastle) and follow signs to the Pacific Highway.
Cross the Hunter River over the big humpy bridge. You are now on the Pacific Highway, stay on this for 28 km, turn left onto Bucketts Way. Go right through Stroud , there is a good place for a rest break at Terra Cottage on the left, or on to Gloucester where there is good selection of coffee shops there too. From Gloucester then take Thunderbolts Way through Nowendoc, Walcha to Uralla.
At Uralla take first turn to the right into Gostwyck Road also known as Tourist Drive 19. See the directions as above from Uralla and Phoenix Foundry.
From Brisbane
Take Cunningham Highway (Route 15) to Warwick and follow The New England Highway to Armidale.... then follow directions from Amidale.....no need to go via Uralla.
